A few more pictures

Here are a few more pictures. It's hard for me to tell since I spend all of my time with him, but Jeff thinks he's growing and that he's focusing more on what's going on around him. Just a few more weeks until we get that first (non-gas induced) smile, we hope! For more pictures, see our Kodak site.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Happy St. Patrick's Day! We're celebrating with Grandma Jane, which is perfect since it's her favorite holiday, and she gets to spend it with her favorite newborn! We've had a great week with Grandma Jane and will be sorry to see her go. From here on out, it's just Mom and Jack during the day. Wish us luck!

Save the Date

Jack's baptism will be Sunday, April 18 after the 11 a.m. Mass at the Newman Center in Iowa City. We'll probably come home on Thursday, April 15 and stay into the next week. Nike might stay a week or so longer since she'll still be on maternity leave. Hope to see you there!

As if there was any doubt . . .

Jack's a Hawkeye! Jack enjoyed cheering on the Iowa wrestling and basketball teams on Sunday afternoon with Grandpa Steve.

Week One

We survived our first week! Everything was pretty uneventful, other than all of the feeding, diaper changing, and trying to catch up on sleep. We came home last Wednesday and had our first pediatrician visit on Thursday. Jack lost a few ounces and lost an entire inch in height once that conehead went away! Below is a video of Jack taken on day 2. The rest are pictures from his first week. Since we can only post one picture at a time here, go to our Kodak gallery to see more.

He's here!!!

We're so happy to finally introduce John Francis Fleming! He was born on Monday, March 1 at 12:35 p.m., weighing 7 pounds, 15 ounces and measuring 21.5 inches long. He's absolutely perfect, and we are smitten. We came home on Wednesday and have been enjoying his company ever since. We're sleeping some at night and luckily have been able to take naps during the day. Grandpa Steve arrived yesterday, and he'll drive home with Grandma Janet on Monday. And just in time, Grandma Jane arrives Wednesday to take over nap and burping duty!

Still patiently waiting

We thought we'd post one more picture of Nike before we meet our "plus 1" tomorrow. (Just kidding, of course--she only feels like she's this big!) Janet came into town Friday afternoon, and she's helped distract us while we wait. She even made us breakfast this morning! It's going to be great to have her here for a week when the baby comes home. Baby doesn't seem ready to come on his or her own yet. We're going to the hospital tonight to be induced tomorrow morning. With any luck, labor will go quickly, and we'll have news about our little one tomorrow afternoon or evening. Wish us luck!
